Just checked the BD and the movie actually uses 45GB of the 50GB disc. a lot of that is taken by extras but the movie itself is almost 30.

- No way. Average 1080p BluRay Films take up about 12 – 14GB
I’m guessing Watchmen will have no more than 20 since it’s 1920 wide but not 1080 high ;-)

I have been watching trailers and clips of this movie for a few weeks now in anticipation of it coming out on December 22. It looks like a slapstick comedy and I think that has always really worked for American Pie and the fact that they are taking it back to the school library and the book of love opens alot of doors for more AP movies…

The sound on the Blu-Ray is totally unacceptable, I had to turn on subtitles. Like you said some of the audio changed mid sentence?

As always Disney Pixar has outdone themselves with an excellent storyline, stellar graphics and amazing amusement for both children and adults! We saw it together as a family and guess what… now my toddler want his bedroom changed from a Disney Cars to a balloon theme! Grrr…

I’ve always found general fan reaction to Spielberg & Lucas rather fascinating. Not to pigeon-hole, but the general perception is that Spielberg is good and Lucas is bad, so when they collaborate on something that they find less than satisfying, they choose to arbitrarily assume that everything they didn’t like was Lucas’s idea and everything they did like was Spielberg’s idea. Such an assumption seems so illogical, yet so many insist upon it. I don’t get it.

Hey great review but I would give it a 10/10 I just finished watching it for the 1000th time and I went on the net to search for extras because your right, there is no extras although I do have the french dubbed version(which is waaaay better then the English and so professional)and at the end there is a bit of really funny bloopers. While doing research I found that there is a sequel called shaolin girl, which technically isnt really a sequel because only 3 people from the first movie are there and it is about the sport lacrosse but Stephen Chow directed the movie(however isnt starring in it). So maybe you should review that movie. Anyway cheers

I agree that it’s an acquired taste, but it’s overall the best feel good movie of all time in my opinion. I think they all have excellent voices (except OF COURSE Pierce Brosnan), and I think the acting was really great. I don’t have any complaints!

I agree with you that the plot was really lacking at times. But what kept me in engaged in this movie were a couple of things. One, the mystery of it all–even though you’ve seen an end-of-the-world movie a dozen times before, you’re still kind of curious to know what’s going to happen. Two, the big ideas. Three, the disaster scenes were quite realistic, something I had not anticipated. That’s as close as I ever want to get to disasters like that. Nice review. I’d give it a 6/10 as well.

Very well written. I just watched the movie && the ending really broke my heart. I honestly felt that once he crossed the fence that he was not going to return to his family. It was just so sad though. Seeing his innocence in the movie and how blind he was to what was happening, how he thought that they had a cafe and played games at the camp after sneaking a peak at the soldiers film… it was so sad. The reality was so sad. Good movie, but like you said, very hard to watch the ending.

Gotta say, i know of one role in which Canoe Reeves was really good (my opinion). Don’t know his characters’ name, but watch The Gift. Oh, and Bram Stoker’s Dracula of course. I’ll get my coat.

Great podcast, I actually took Ascully’s advice today and bought the Blu-Ray rather than renting the movie. I believe I have the exact same D-Link router as you were talking about and love it. It’s fast and doesn’t allow someone else on the network to destroy my gaming :-D. I do have one question, when do you plan to release the Batman ringtone? :-P

Thanks for the question Ian Unfortunately Paramount have no plans to release secrets of the furious five on Blu-Ray. I think it would have been a great extra on the HD version. I guess its there way of saying buy both :)

Here’s a goof in the movie! In the beginning of the movie, they refer to Payton’s mom’s name as Sarah. We already know that Sarah’s sister is Karen. Payton leaves Joe Kingman’s place in a taxi cab and the dog (Spike) finds her backpack from under her bed. In it he finds a newspaper clipping. The newpaper clipping reads her obituary. They show a picture of her and Joe when they were married and underneath the picture is her name. Instead of saying Sarah Kingman it says Kelly Kingman. Check it out!
